Disney World Resort: What to expect now that it has reopened

Magic Kingdom park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park are now open with much fan fare. With its grand reopening, The resort opened with smaller crowds, shorter lines and social distancing in affect.

After being closed since March 15 due to COVID-19, Disney has made many changes in accordance with the CDC including touch-free temperature checks, requiring of face coverings, hand-sanitizing stations and six-foot separation for guest in lines.

Phased Reopening and Important Information
While Kingdom park and Animal Kingdom has opened, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are slated to open on Wednesday, July 15.

Disney has also noted that while many of the theme parks, hotels, and restaurants have reopened, they are subject to modification, limited capacity, and subject to availability or closure. Health and Safety measures have been emphasized during the reopening phase. They have advised guest to follow all posted instructions while visiting Walt Disney Resort.

Know Before You Go
In a video posted on the website, Disney has outlined ways that the Resort has made ways safer for the guest and cast members. In addition to the “non touch” temperature checks and face covering requirements, a new reservation system has been implemented.

Park attendance will be managed through the new park reservation system called the Disney Park Pass System. “Both a park and reservation and a valid admission for the same park on the same day are required,” per the video. You’ll also be able to link your Disney account while being able to make reservations online. This will allow guest guest to plan ahead before arrival
The video also advised that anyone with a temperature of 100.4F or higher the party will not be allowed to enter the park.

Disney also asks guest to follow all ground markings and physical barriers, added to help everyone navigate through the park.
The My Disney Experience App will be vital for guest during their time at the park. Disney advises guest to download the latest version of the app to make the most of the magical experience. The app will allow you to order service for dining, select restaurant menus, and online check-in at the Disney Resort Hotels.
