As countries around the world plan their reopening measures for tourist, countries in the European Union--which plans to reopen July 1, could be limiting who is allowed to enter.
In a report from The New York Times, the European Union is considering banning American from entering the bloc citing a draft list of countries who would be allowed. The reason for this, according to the report, is due to the United States not adequately controlling the spread of Covid-19.
Russian and Brazilian travelers would also not be permitted to enter EU countries under the draft list, according to The New York Times.
The move would be a major blow to America's prestige and world image, despite the Trump administration pushing for the country to reopen and asserting that the spread is under control. The US has had more than 2.3 million coronavirus cases and 120,000 deaths, more than any other country.
Counties in Europe have seen a significant curbing of the outbreak, while the United States have seen a spike in cases within the last few weeks. States like Texas, Florida, Arizona and California are reporting new highs for current coronavirus hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic.
"European officials said the list would be revised every two weeks to reflect new realities around the world as nations see the virus ebb and flow," reports The Times.
